Now, understand that I know all scripture is given so the man of God can be thoroughly furnished and complete, lacking nothing and that it all speaks of Jesus. But there is a difference between some parts of it and other parts; there would have to be, otherwise why would Peter tell us to desire the sincere "milk" of the Word and not just the whole Word of God? See what I mean? He seems to be telling us that some parts of it are critical for us to grow, doesn't he?

If that is true, and it is, than what particularly is the "milk" we should desire from the Word to make us grow apart from the other stuff? We are to crave certain passages of scripture that Peter has referenced as "milk" so that we can grow. The key question here is what are these passages and how do we find them?

We know from above that the Milk is Jesus, but what does that mean? What part of Him is the Milk? Isn't He all the Word and the Whole of the Word?

Let us think back now, to when we first got saved, "born-again". How did it happen? What did we do? What did we believe and what did we say? I think for most of us the answer is Romans 10:9-10, "we confessed with the mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believed in the heart that God raised Him from the dead".

O.K., now when you did that do you know what happened? No, I'm serious, do you? Well, most of us would say, yes, Jesus came to live inside my heart, right? I hope we would all say at least that? Well, anything else?

Do you know how that happened, what caused it to happened, what it meant when it happened? These are all basic fundamentals of our Christian faith and we should all be able to answer them completely. Slow down, take a breath and think about these questions I am asking. The answers to these are of the utmost importance to you as a Christian if you desire to fulfill the goal of God in your life.

Otherwise how else can we explain Christianity to anyone? Yes, I know that we are supposed to just believe God and He does it. O.K., let us say I just got saved, now what? What happened? How come I am like this and who am I now? You're a new creation. What does that mean? You have Jesus living inside you. What does that mean?

You were transferred from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of His dear Son. What does that mean? Hey if all this is true, and it is, then shouldn't I know what it means? Well? You didn't know the answers to those questions when you first were introduced to Jesus, did you? Do you know the answers now and all the answers?

It is the answers to these basic fundamental questions that help us to grow and understand who God says we are and learn what He did for us in the Person and Work of Christ.

How can you function in a world without knowing who you are or knowing the language being spoken?

From the moment we are born physically, we are prepared to function and live in this world. Are we not? How are we prepared to do that? MILK FIRST! We don't want to lose track of where we came from and who it is that is responsible for taking care of us do we? Hey this is not rocket science here; seems to me, to be pretty much common sense. Well, if this is what happens in the physical world and Peter uses this as an analogy to our spiritual birth and growth maybe they are similar?

Maybe we should find out where we came from and who is now responsible for taking care of us? What do you think? It would be advantageous to find out who we are and where we came from in order to grow, wouldn't it?
