We are hopeless, just wandering about, without any direction to anything we are engaged in. Without an anchor to our souls, we are drifting aimlessly on a sea of disillusionment and darkness. He sees and has compassion on us, as we innately desire to be in unity with ourselves and with Him, our Creator. MATTHEW 9:36
(KJV)
But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted,
and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
(The Living Bible)
And what pity he felt for the crowds that came, because their problems were so great
and they didn't know what to do or where to go for help. They were like sheep without
a shepherd…
(The Message)
When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were
like sheep with no shepherd…
(Ben Campbell Johnson)
In his journeys, each time he saw crowds gather, he was moved in the depths of his being
with caring and concern because so many of them lived aimless and purposeless lives...
Jesus saw the hurt, the confusion, the need for help among His own people. He saw that, they as a whole, were "aimless and purposeless", without a clue as to what to do or how to do it. They were not able to communicate together along the same lines, with the same language. Some of them were of the "Pharisees", some of them were of the "Sadducees", some of them didn't know whom to believe, some of them were so tired of hearing different things, from different people, and they gave up on everything. Does this sound a bit familiar? Look around us today and what do you see? There are Churches everywhere, offering everything. If you don't like church, that's O.K., because there are a myriad of alternative forms of worship. There is no union of the people, because there is no union in the language we speak. We have learned so much now that we can argue all the points of the Bible, to no end. Our own vanity has led us into a state of contention amongst ourselves and there is only one hope of regaining any hope. He, Jesus, He alone is our Hope. We, as a whole body of Christian believers, really need to rethink our Christianity. We need to look and see if this is the right way. We should ask ourselves if we are really moving towards the Goal and Purpose God has set before us. Do we even know that God has a goal and a purpose??
Only as we learn, or relearn, the basics of His language can we begin to function once again as a living vital "team" of believers. If from the beginning of our Christian development and continually going over the same things the same way we learn the Word of God as He teaches us we would become a living functioning unit, one in ability, one in faith, one in love, with one Shepherd as our leader. There would be no more divisions, no more strife, no more confusion, no more divided groups saying they believe this way, we believe that way. There would be no more "people of Paul", no more "people of Apollo's". We are so divided because we have chosen our own "beliefs" over the truth of the Gospel. We are so divided because we haven't been taught the true definitions of the words used in the language of God. His language of the living Word accurately defined develops a speech and vocabulary of ONE people. Being of the same mind is one thing and being of the same language is another. What comes first? Literally? Think this through with me here a minute. God has said in His Word that we should all be one in understanding, of the same love, of one accord and of one mind. Just given this fact ought to force us to think of how this is to be accomplished. On the other hand, are we just going to wait for Him to do it for us? Well if that's the case, don't hold your breath, because it just isn't going to happen that way. |
