Sound Of God

Now that we have looked at and are getting somewhat of an idea of what language is, having broken it down to "a system of words formed from such combinations and patterns". Let's take a look at words a little closer to get a better picture of the whole. And yes, I do like to look at things under a microscope! It is then and only then when we really see things the way they actually are and not the way we think they are.

word - (The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language)
A sound or a combination of sounds, or its representation in writing or printing, that symbolizes and communicates a meaning and may consist of a single morpheme or of a combination of morphemes.
morpheme - (The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language)
A meaningful linguistic unit consisting of a word, such as man, or a word element, such as -ed in walked, that cannot be divided into smaller meaningful parts.)

Well, looks like we reached the end of our search, "morpheme". A morpheme is as far as we can go when examining language. In a way I was hoping to go a little farther, weren't you? O.K., then it's settled we will. But, first things first. God is a God of extreme loyalty to order; everything He does is in a set specific pattern and for a set specific purpose. God, our Father, thinks everything out thoroughly before He acts. He has a specific design in mind prior to creating anything. There is a set specific system of operation He processes things through in His thoughts.

A Word is a "sound or a combination of sounds" - "that symbolizes and communicates a meaning", which "may consist of a single morpheme or of a combination of morphemes". This is getting interesting isn't it? Sounds somewhat like the definition to language. A sound or combination thereof when spoken and/or printed in a set specific way will produce a concert of which one can understand what the producer is producing. What? I can't believe I said that, here let's try this. A sound or combination thereof when spoken and/or printed in a set specific way produces that which the producer desires to be produced.

Let me say it again. A Word is a sound or combination thereof when spoken and/or written in a set specific way produces a set specific pattern of communication determined by the producer. Now I think we are getting it. Let me try just one more time. A sound or combination thereof when spoken and/or written in a set specific way produces a set specific pattern of communicable language which is determined strictly by the one who produces the sound.

So a word is, in its most basic form, a sound. Now when you take that word and write it down, it doesn't change, it still is a word, and it still is a sound. How can it be a sound if it is written down? Read it. Read it to yourself. Hear anything? Read it again. Hear anything? Do you hear yourself reading it? So it must also be a sound.

Get the point? It's real easy at this point because we have gotten all the way down to the "nitty-gritty", the primitive things, and the most basic structure of language.

This is where I like to live, this place where nothing is complicated, where everything is open for everyone to see, absorb and assimilate.

This is a peaceful place, big and beautiful is this garden of delight, where all things are open to those who have asked, sought, and knocked. This is a place of God, a still small voice speaks here because that is all that is needed in this place of pure love, of pure joy, of pure understanding. This is a sacred place of Truth. It is the most essential place in this world, on this earth, if one would take the time to get here and then spend time here. You hear that? Man, is it quiet or what? That there, that's God speaking, listen, now listen.

He is ever speaking, ever talking, ever telling us of Himself and it is only when we reach this place can we hear the things of God, it is only in this place can we hear God telling of His ways and of His thoughts.

PROVERBS 8:1-6
(KJV)
  • 1 Is not wisdom crying out, and the voice of knowledge sounding?
  • 2 At the top of the highways, at the meeting of the roads, she takes her place;
  • 3 Where the roads go into the town her cry goes out, at the doorways her voice is loud:
  • 4 I am crying out to you, O men; my voice comes to the sons of men.
  • 5 Become expert in reason, O you simple ones; you foolish ones, take training to heart.
  • 6 Give ear, for my words are true, and my lips are open to give out what is upright.

The word spoken and/or written is a sound. In its most basic sense; a morpheme. A morpheme is a meaningful linguistic unit which cannot be broken down any further. To me that is the alphabet. To me that is where it all starts. The alphabet is a set specific group of morphemes, when arranged or brought together in a certain way form a word. The word formed then is only determined by the creator of the language, right? English has its own set of morphemes, German has its own set of morphemes, Russian has its own set of morphemes, and God has His own set of morphemes. Got you, didn't I? Yes, that is close to being right, but not exactly.
