| Worth Of Wisdom |
|
Grace and peace are multiplied, not just added, but multiplied as we get to know Him. Now, it didn't say about him, it said we get to KNOW HIM. The more we get to know Him the more we understand of Him, the more we understand of Him the more we know of His grace, the more we know of His grace the more we walk with His peace. Ever increasing with the knowledge of Him, talking to Him, personally, ourselves, not learning through someone else. We have to get to know God through God and that comes by grace. One could literally say that "grace" is the wisdom of God and that "works" is the wisdom of the world, couldn't one? O.K. O.K. I will say it then. God's wisdom is the grace of God imparting Himself to us so no man could or should brag on himself. The wisdom of the world is continual "working" to know more "about" God and then boasting about it. There I said it. Satisfied? Not yet? Well neither am I? Let's go on. The grace of God and the gift by grace. The grace of God and the gift by grace. I just had to repeat that a couple more times, I just had to. I couldn't help myself. It is by the grace of God alone that we are able to receive the revelation of God, of Himself. That puts the responsibility on Him and keeps us all on the same track as long as we are not seeking after the teachings or wisdom of men. It is the grace of God and the gift by that grace that we can even have a thought of God and who He is. It was His power that raised Christ from the dead and it is all His power that enables us to live and know Him on a personal level. It is His power that brings us to Himself and it is His power that sustains us once we get there. Man has had nothing to do with it, nor can he. So stop trying to figure God out and stop accumulating knowledge about Him and get to know Him, personally, He loves you. It is His power that is at work in us to give us all things which enable us to live a Godly, reflective life, in and through Him. 2 PETER 1:3
(KJV)
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
(TLB)
For as you know him better, he will give you, through his great power, everything you need for living a truly good life: he even shares his own glory and his own goodness with us!
(TCNT)
Our Lord has used His divine power to grant us all those things which produce a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us to share His own glory and excellence.
(Letter to Street Christians)
he's already given us everything we need for a life of purity through our living connection with the One who picked us out to show us Himself.
(Parker)
Who according to His Divine power has given us all things that are necessary for true life and Godliness through our getting to know Him Who has called us to a life of glorious experience and righteousness.
(Laubach)
he has used His divine power to give us everything we need for leading a good Christian life. The first thing He gave us was the knowledge of Himself. He called us. His virtue and glory drew us to Him.
He called us out. He gave us Himself. He is able to keep us. Look at that last translation: "the first thing He gave us was the knowledge of Himself". That is fantastic. Isn't that the first thing you received when you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior? He blessed you with the fact that you now know Him. With that doesn't it sense that we should continue along the same line? If that is how we received Him shouldn't we continue that way? As you have first received Christ so continue in HIM. He gave us the initial Word of Himself now let Him fill in the rest of the alphabet; the rest of the Language. It was His power, it was Himself He gave of Himself so that we could know Him through Himself, and that way we wouldn't have to look to someone else to receive that knowledge. He gave us His life, literally. Why? By doing so He knew that we could know Him. |
