By our natural human reason we have tried to understand and figure God out. What we haven't been able to figure out with our sense knowledge, (the use of our five physical senses - "sense knowledge"), is where those three statements at the beginning of this chapter came from. You see, what we haven't figured out through reason we explain as unexplainable. What we haven't figured out through reason we explain as knowing in part. What we haven't figured out through reason we explain as being too "mysterious" to know.

Human reason is the use of the five physical senses (sight, sound, touch, taste and feel) to gain and acquire knowledge of our surrounding environment. Which is absolutely correct. But the only problem with this is, God doesn't live in that environment. He is a Spirit and He lives in the sphere of the spirit and that is where we need to be if we are to learn from Him.

1 CORINTHIANS 2:9-14
(KJV)
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
(Living)
That is what is meant by the Scriptures which say that no mere man has ever seen, heard, or even imagined what wonderful things God has ready for those who love the Lord.
(SEB)
..no eye has ever seen this and no ear has ear heard this. No human being has ever imagined this. But this is what God prepared for those who loved him…
(Cressman)
The eye has not seen the things God has made for those who love Him. The ear has not heard about them. A person's heart has never thought of them…

What is being said here is, we can't know God from any outside sense or source. The physical senses won't help. There's that word heart again, too.

Sounds like the senses cannot put anything of God into the heart. Sounds like although we can learn a lot about God we still can't know Him in the truest way, through the heart, if we are endeavoring get there from or in a physical way. Human reason cannot and never will be able to get there. You cannot get there from there so stop trying. God cannot be grasped with the head or mind. He is only available in and through your heart.
