Now I am not saying he doesn't have the ability to know "about" God, I'm saying he doesn't have the ability to "know" God with his senses or human reasoning. God can only be known in the Spirit and in the Spirit alone.

The natural man and all we have learned in the educational systems of this world are directly opposed to really knowing God. We can't get here from there.

1 CORINTHIANS 2:14
(KJV)
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
(Berkele)
But the worldly-minded person does not accept things of the divine Spirit; to him they are folly and he cannot understand them, because they are estimated from a spiritual standpoint…
(Way)
Now the unspiritual man cannot grasp the revelations of the spirit of God. They are for him meaningless; he cannot comprehend them…
(Jordan)
A man with a secular background finds it difficult to understand things from a spiritual point of view, for it is all foolishness to him. He just can't grasp it, because it is in spiritual language…
(Johnson)
The person without the Spirit, however, is not aware of God's action, even a discussion of the matter sounds foolish to such people. They cannot discern God's actions because only people in tune with the Spirit can see and understand them…
(Cornish)
for the materially minded man, who thinks through his senses, is totally and utterly ignorant of God's spiritual messages. They are to him absolute foolishness, and he cannot reach them, for they are only made known to the spiritual character…

The soulical man with all his instruments of examination cannot get to the understanding of God and His Person in any other way then through the realm of the spirit. Man cannot know God, as God, by attempting to understand God with the mental faculties of understanding and physical faculties of sense related knowledge. God is not of this, the physical world, nor of the world mind. He is not a physical being and cannot be understood as such, which is why man cannot know God along those lines.

It is only as we step into the spirit, through the belief in our own heart, that we can know God in the spirit. Our belief in God opens our soul to God so as to be able to receive from God all He is and all we are In Him.

It is in the Spirit, by the Spirit, of the Spirit, through the Spirit, that we receive the revelation of the truth and grow thereby in the knowledge, the Spirit knowledge of God.

The Living Word tells us all we are and all God has done for us isn't going to be found in this present physical world, or the world of the carnal mind. So why are we looking around here?

There is another sphere of the spirit where if we humble ourselves enough to look within our own hearts The Spirit of Truth Himself will show us all these things and lead us into a full explanatory definition of God Himself, because He is, in essence, Spirit.

So realizing this, understand it is in the spirit of God alone that we receive the "revelation" of who He is and what He has done for us in Christ Jesus. Only God can reveal God to us.

With this clearly in mind and heart let us look into that realm as we endeavor to find out exactly who and what God is in and from His Word, as it pertains to His Life, His Nature, His Character, as He explains Himself to us, in and through the spirit. Let us earnestly desire to receive a real revelation of Who He is, He will open Himself, as we open our hearts to Him.
