When you get right down to it, doesn't it really sound kind of ridiculous, that God would make such an one as us and not tell us who He is? That He would spend all His time and effort on Creation itself, for us and then leave us here to fend for ourselves?

Well? Think about it.

Put yourself in His shoes for a minute, I know they are huge, but just go ahead step in and ask yourself:

IF I WAS GOD

Would I create this whole shabang, make someone like myself to enjoy it and then not tell them I did it how I did it, what I did it with, where I did it and all the rest there is to know about it.

No, I don't think so! Not if you are being honest with yourself. You would want everyone to know everything you did! You would want everyone to know how you did it all! You would be running up and down the streets telling everyone LOOK LOOK! Man you all should come look at this, come on over, look what I just made! It's a universe of wonder, a cosmos of amazement, a galaxy of inspiration! You would want everyone to enjoy all of it, all the time, wouldn't you?

When you parents have made something for your kids, say, a swing set in the backyard, how much enjoyment do you get watching them play on it? You sure wouldn't tell them not to go near it would you?

Well I really don't think God is too different from us, in that respect. But just to make sure I'm not grabbing at straws here, let's take a look at the Word and see what God has to say about it:

PROVERBS 1:20-23
(KJV)
20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
(NEB)
Wisdom cries aloud in the open air,
she raises her voice in public places; she calls at the top of the busy street and proclaims at the open gates of the city
(Knox)
And all the while Wisdom is publishing her message,
crying it aloud in the open streets; never a meeting of the roads, never a gateway, but her voice is raised, echoing above the din of it
(TLB)
Wisdom shouts in the streets for a hearing.
She calls out to the crowds along Main Street, and to the judges in their courts, and to everyone in all the land:
(NIV)
Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares;
at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:

Sounds to me like God is trying to tell us something here. Doesn't it? Wisdom is crying out loud all the time, it never stops. We are just not in the right place to hear it. Look the Word says, wisdom in the streets, wisdom in the public places, wisdom in the public squares, wisdom at the gates to the city, wisdom is calling out to everyone everywhere.
