In the Old Testament, you see the Creation, and the fall of Man. The promised righteousness in Abraham, and the giving of the Law to Moses, the proclamation of The Prophets. This speaks to my heart as "God for us".

In the four gospels, we see the historical events of Jesus', crucifixion, death, burial, resurrection and ascension recorded by eyewitnesses. This speaks to my heart as "God with us".

The Gospel—Christianity itself is based upon and centers on these events, although not in the physical sense. However, in the Gospels we have no explanation except for a few suggestions from Jesus as to what His death and resurrection meant to us. The four Gospels is the end of the Old Covenant, as Jesus proclaimed the New Covenant to come in by His blood, which was yet to be shed.

In the book of Acts, we see those events proclaimed by the eyewitnesses, the Apostles. Still yet, we still have no explanation as to what has actually been accomplished in His death, burial, resurrection and ascension. There is no vital detailed explanation of what Christs' redemptive work accomplished or who the believer is or what He has because of it.

What did Jesus do for us and why? How were we redeemed and set right In Him? How does the death of Christ save us? What took place that made us able to be partakers of His divine nature? Too many questions were still left unanswered in Acts. The whole process has always anticipated more to come, until He, who is the fullness of all there is, was and is to come, appeared on the scene!

Can you see now what I mean by ‘progressive revelation?' Can you see the goal, and the plan coming to its zenith? I don't know about you, but I am getting excited and we are just getting started!

Then Holy Spirit through the Apostles take up where the Gospels and Acts leave off, bringing us into the heavenlies where Christ sits as Supreme Head of the Church, which is now His body! This speaks to my heart as "God in us".

In the New Testament epistles we find out what God did for us in Christ; we find the ultimate intention of God himself, as our father.

God gave us a detailed explanation of the law in the Old Testament. Without that explanation it would have been difficult for Israel to carry out the terms of the law, wouldn't it?

So it is in the case of the New Covenant the work of redemption, the consummation of the Father's plan of the ages, was accomplished totally and completely by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now how could we participate in all that was accomplished through Him, without an explanation of it?
Wasn't that the intention of God in the first place?

Our complete participation in Him as part of His family through the progressive revelation received in our hearts, once we believed. Without a full explanation of the accomplishment it would be difficult, literally impossible, to fully enjoy the benefits of that New Covenant.
